Product description
KLINGER® MLX is the result of the latest product development. The material meets the requirements of nuclear-grade applications and is exceptionally tight and easy to handle. It can replace any manufacturer’s graphite gasket materials, whether reinforced with foil or metal sheet – making it a truly universal gasket material that helps minimize the variety of graphite grades kept in stock.
This gasket has a multilayer structure consisting of high-purity graphite foils (‹ 99 %) and smooth stainless-steel foils. Testing confirms a 6X increase in rigidity/handleability compared to conventional foil reinforced graphite gaskets. In a special process several layers of graphite and stainless-steel foils are joined together without using any adhesives. A special impregnation ensures the improved sealing performance and excellent handling.
Generally, graphite gaskets have higher leakage rates than fiber and PTFE gaskets and have traditionally been used only in high-temperature applications. However, KLINGER® MLX is an exceptionally tight material and meets the TA-Luft leak tightness level, enabling broader use in various applications. Better sealing performance translates to longer service life, cost savings due to reduced leakage losses, and a lower environmental impact.
The material is easy and safe to cut unlike low-cost graphite gasket materials with tanged stainless-steel inserts.
Basis composition
Expanded graphite with 0.05 mm thick smooth stainless-steel foils.
Areas of application
KLINGER® MLX is suitable for extreme conditions, especially for high pressure applications, high temperatures and high compressive stresses.
